This is a Lionel 646 Vintage O 4-6-4 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive & 2046W Whistle Tender from 1956-58. The locomotive features die-cast metal construction, a decorative bell, a motor, a reverse unit, an operating headlight, an operating smoke unit, metal side rods, metal wheels, and exquisite detail. The tender features a whistle, die-cast trucks, knuckle coupler, and metal wheels.

Known as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world!

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. There are scratches, scuffs and paint wear on both the locomotive and tender. The locomotive struggled to run and the tender struggled to produce a whistle sound. The original boxes are not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item.
