The tender has an operating whistle.

The 6-8-6 was powerful at high speeds, and was initially seen as a possible challenger to the Diesel locomotives that were beginning to dominate rail-yards in North America. While the design was loved by many, the 6-8-6 would ultimately present too many problems in both maintenance and performance before actually being scrapped for good by 1960. No known 6-8-6 models exist today as the focus greatly shifted to diesel models by the 1960s.
