Here is an MTH 20-3023-1 O Gauge West Virginia Pulp & Paper Shay Steam Locomotive & Tender with ProtoSounds 1.0 #12. This unique engine is a model of the geared steam locomotives used by logging locomotives. The pistons are connected to a long drive shaft that is geared to the wheels. They were made this way to be able to run on the uneven track used by logging railroads. This engine features all metal construction, ProtoSounds 1.0, smoke, headlight, and fantastic detail.

This locomotive does not include DCS (Digital Command System) features because it has ProtoSound 1.0. Only locomotives with ProtoSound 2.0 and ProtoSound 3.0 include DCS functions.
