Lionel 6407 VIntage O Flatcar w/ Large Rocket - Rare EX/Box

This is a Lionel 6407 VIntage O Flatcar w/ Large Rocket - Rare from 1963. This is the exceptionally difficult to find postwar flatcar with the large rocket from 1963 only. The rocket features a removable nose cone with a pencil sharpener! This flatcar features a removable rocket, plastic trucks, operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles. The missile load that accompanies this car was manufactured by Sterling Plastics, which had developed it as a pencil case as a part of its normal product line. The standard Sterling pencil case did include a pencil sharpener in the base of the capsule. According to different sources, the Lionel missiles were not supposed to include a sharpener. However, according to one source Sterling did send some rockets to Lionel that included sharpeners.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. There are scuffs and scratches on this flatcar. The axles on this car are rusted. The original box is included but has damage to both ends. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item. Overall condition is Excellent.
