Lionel 6-8578 O Gauge New York Central Motorized Ballast Tamper Car EX/Box

Here is a Lionel 6-8578 O Gauge New York Central Motorized Ballast Tamper Car from 1985. This is a reissue of the Postwar Era 54 Ballast Tamper. It features a set of small pile drivers on the front that move up and down and "tamp" down the ballast rock along the track. The tamping action is controlled by track activators. When the tamping action is activated, the motor slows down to half speed.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. Signs of previous use on the wheels and surface. The original box is included. The instruction manual is not included. Please see my pictures for additional features. Overall condition is Excellent.
