This engine headed up the Chessie Steam Special Passenger set from that year and was one of the first Berkshires produced in the Modern Era, the other being the 8002 Union Pacific from the same year. Its features include a die-cast boiler, an open frame motor, Magnetraction, an operating smoke unit, an operating headlight, electronic whistle and Sound of Steam.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The soundboard does not produce chuff sounds. There are light nicks and scratches on the surface of the shell and chassis. The wheels and rolling pickups show signs of average use.
