Lionel 45N Vintage O Postwar Metal Automatic Gateman VG

This is a Lionel 45N Vintage O Postwar Metal Automatic Gateman from 1945. The gateman was Lionel‘s most popular accessory from the postwar era. This is the earlier all metal version which was subsequently replaced in 1950 with the plastic 145 version. When you put the track trip under the track and the train goes over it the little man comes out of the house with his lantern to say HI! A lantern illuminates until the train passes. This illuminated lantern feature was dropped in the 145.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. This gateman has been tested and is functional. This Automatic Gateman shows scratches and paint loss throughout various sections of the metal shell and metal base This gateman shows rust on the bottom of the base. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included.
