Lionel 45N Vintage O Postwar Metal Automatic Gateman EX/Box

This is a Lionel 45N Vintage O Postwar Metal Automatic Gateman from 1945. The gateman was Lionel‘s most popular accessory from the postwar era. This is the earlier all metal version which was subsequently replaced in 1950 with the plastic 145 version. When you put the track trip under the track and the train goes over it the little man comes out of the house with his lantern to say HI! A lantern illuminates until the train passes. This illuminated lantern feature was dropped in the 145.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. This item has been tested and is functional. This item shows scratches on the metal base, gate house, and railroad crossing pole. The original box is included. The instruction manual is not included.
