Lionel 2041 Vintage O Rock Island Alco FA AA Diesel Locomotive Set VG

This is a Lionel 2041 Vintage O Rock Island Alco FA AA Diesel Locomotive Set. The Lionel Rock Island FA No. 2041 would be the last of the Alco FAs issued in 1969. This diesel did not have a horn. The powered unit was equipped with traction tires on the power axles, and a two position directional unit whose control lever was adjustable from the top of the body. A single vertical worm drive Type IIB motor powers two axles. The lettering was heat-stamped on these units and the sheet metal chassis have solid non-operating couplers.

These items have been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. These diesels show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. There is also some rust throughout various sections of the chassis, wheels and axels. The dummy units front coupler is missing some pieces that hold it in place. The powered unit was tested and didn't function. The switch on the top is also suck in one position and doesn't move. The overall appearance of each item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. The original boxes are not included.
