Lionel 1463W Vintage O 2036 Freight Set w/6466W, 6462, 6465, 6257 VG/Box

This Set #1463W featured a Magne-Traction equipped #2036 steam locomotive in 1950, but reverted to a non-Magne-Traction #2026 in 1951, due to materials shortages during the Korean War. The 2036 also features: 2-6-4 wheel arrangement with scaled-down driving wheel hardware, three-position E-unit, relatively plain spoked drive wheels, sheet metal trailing truck plus ornamental bell and illuminated headlight. It was not manufactured with a smoke unit. The number of the tender was either 6466W, 6466T, or 6066T. The 6466W, such as this one, includes a whistle while the other tenders did not include a whistle. The 6462 New York Central gondola has the distinction of being the first long gondola introduced by Lionel in the postwar era. This gondola was Lionel's answer to providing its customers with a longer and more realistic gondola than previous offerings. The 6462 was introduced in 1949 as a top-of-the-line gondola with a great deal of detail in the body. Features include: painted body with white lettering, staple-end trucks with operating couplers, brakewheel, and footsteps at all four corners ( it does not include a load). The 6465 tank car is a unique tank car in the Lionel family. It's fame comes from the fact it had the longest production run of any single-style Lionel tank car. Additionally, the 6465 contained the widest variety of roadnames used by Lionel on a single style tank car. The 6465 was introduced by Lionel in 1948 as a Sunoco tank car. From there it carried numerous roadnames such as Gulf, Cities Services and Lionel Lines. Production of the last 6465 tank car was in 1966. This is the most common 6465 tank car. It had the longest run of any 6465 tanker and is generally viewed as the highest quality 6465 tank car. With all metal trucks and wire handrailings, the Sunoco tank car is a great looking tank car. Production started in 1948 and ended in 1956. The 6257 had a long production in the Lionel postwar era -- running for ten consecutive years; then making a brief two-year appearance in the early 1960's. Since the 6257 was produced for such a long period, it experienced numerous variations and changes. Features include: a painted body with white lettering, staple-end trucks, and it is not lighted.

These items have been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. These items show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. There is also rust throughout various sections of the chassis, wheels and trucks. The track and transformer is missing from this set. The locomotive and tender were both tested. The locomotive ran intermittently in both directions and the tender didn't function. The original boxes are included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at each item. Overall condition is Very Good.
