Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the "Mikado" found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2. Features for this locomotive include weather-resistant construction, opening cab roof vents, opening fire-box door, 4-way power control switch, 7-pole Buhler motor, articulated drive, 8 powered wheels, 2 traction tires, 12 power pickups, and digital electronic sounds including: steam chuffs, bell and whistle, and braking sounds.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The front light cover is missing from the locomotive. There is a noticeable amount of dried adhesive material on the smoke door. The generator trim piece is missing from the locomotive. The front airline is missing from the pilot platform. One of the pipes from the front of the locomotive has a loose on the pilot platform. There are light nicks and scratches on the surface of the shell and chassis. The wheels show average run-time. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The original box is not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item.
