American Flyer 21099 Vintage S 4-6-2 Steam Locomotive with Tender
Here is an American Flyer 21099 New York, New Haven and Hartford 4-6-2 Pacific Engine and Tender, from 1958. This version comes without coal pusher or marker lights. It features metal bell and vertical whistle; headlight with clear lens and boiler front, operating headlight and so much more. There is no box. There are some scratches on the body, but the steps are intact. There is no rust present on the engine but there is some rust on the frame of the tender.
Introduced in its prototype form in the late 19th century, the 4-6-2 would take the world by storm at the turn of the 20th century, being seen as one of the biggest innovation in the history of locomotives -- the 4-6-2 would quickly finds its place in rail-yards across the world. Heralded for its ability to haul passengers, the 4-6-2 was a versatile model hauling freight and coal as well, with tank variants being introduced later during the 20th century.
